DANGERS OF TAKING TOO MUCH CALCIUM SUPPLEMENTS

There is nothing bad in taking care of your health, most especially if you are taking supplements to improve your health. Supplements are good sources of replenishing the body nutrients for good health and development, but there is one adage that says " excess of everything is bad"

 supplements (calcium) . There is no doubt about it, calcium is highly needed in the body for strong bones and teeth, at the same time we need to be very careful so that it's negative effects will not damage the body.

As we all know, calcium is important for the development of skeleton, it is also good for healthy functions of nerves and muscles together with your heart, similarly, it is .needed by growing children to develop their bones and teeth.

But if calcium is too much in the body, it can build up to unhealthy level in the blood stream, for example, high accumulation of  calcium can cause a variety of problems that range from headache to life threatening heart problem. The following are diseases that can emanate from the excessive intake of calcium supplement, they are: kidney stones, headache, fatigue, and lethergy others are parathyroid problems and cancer, bone pain, kidney failure, vomiting, constipation, loss of appetite, muscle ache, frequent urination etc

The most important organ that the excessive intake of calcium affect is the heart therefore, consideration of too much calcium can increase your risk of a heart attack because it is capable of blocking the arteries that transports blood to the heart.

Sometimes, it contributes to the accumulation of fat in the coronary arteries which leads to heart attack and stroke. Calcium is better gotten from food rather than from pills because calcium from  meal (Food) has little or no effect on the heart.

The following are examples of food that can supply you natural calcium, they are: leavy green vegetables, salmon that contains soft bones, spinach, orange juice, soy and almond milk, sesame seeds, legumes and beans, sardines etc.

In order to prevent too much calcium in your body, you need to drink enough water to flush away excess calcium from the body, also, you need to check the way you take multivitamins and supplements, antacids and yoghurt.

In conclusion, try to reduce your intake of caffeine and other stimulant beverages, and lastly, make sure you consult your medical doctors to guide you on the intake of calcium supplement.
